BIOGRAPHY

Exploding on the music scene at the young age of 14, Erik grew up in a musical family. His father, James Charles Lundgren was a Naval Officer and Band Leader for the Navy Band. Erik is one of four boys. His brothers Charlie, Jimmy and Paul grew up learning to play the drums instructed by their father. Erik chose the guitar at age 8. Already a world class surfer (United States Champion in his age group) Erik took to the guitar as he did the water, mastering the instrument and an offer to join the Austin Nichols Band - lead by now Lynyrd Skynyrd lead vocalist; Johnny VanZant, before graduating from high school. The Austin Nichols Band was newly named Johnny Van Zant Band and had their first record deal in 1979, Erik became one of the founding members, co-wrote many of the bands songs including but not limited to No More Dirty Deals, Standing in the falling Rain and It's You. Erik has delighted audiences with his effortless off-the-chain leads on guitar. The JVZ Band recorded 4 Albums before Johnny leaving the band to lead Lynyrd Skynyrd. Erik went on to play with Molly Hatchett for a brief time and continued to do projects with the Van Zant Brothers, Johnny and Donnie (38 Special). The Brothers formed a country duo named Van Zants. Johnny and Donnie recorded 2 Albums under Van Zant's but toured on only one Get Right With The Man. With Erik as lead guitarist on this tour, it earned him his first Gold Album. Erik continues to co-write with the Van Zant brothers and join them for live performances. Erik is currently touring, as a special guest guitarist, on the Southern Rock Woodstock Summer Tour. He also plays locally in his hometown, Jacksonville, Florida. Erik also dedicates some of his time sharing his gifts and talents with residents of assisted living & memory care communities.
